Plans call for the storied hotel to be torn down and rebuilt as a smaller, world-class resort — and for luxury residential towers to be added on both sides of Gulf Shore Boulevard.


Naples is losing a landmark.

The Naples Beach Hotel and its related operations, including its tennis center and golf course, will close Sunday, ahead of its sale.

The Athens Group, which has plans to redevelop the property, expects to close on its purchase of the 125-acre property within a week.
